The state electrical company DEI is planning on increasing its household tariffs in July, while reducing the cost of energy for commercial purposes (stores, SMEs).
The price increase will affect those on the lower tariff for energy consumption of up to 800 kWh every four months.The company announced that it is considering increasing the low tariff by 11%, in accordance with European legislation.
DEI’s president and managing consultant Arthouros Zervos stressed that the financial result for the company will be neutral and that most of DEI’s customers on the low tariff probably quality for the social household tariff. Mr. Zervos clarified that agricultural and evening household tariffs will not be affected.
The DEI president also announced that after the 31st of July the state electrical company will not be collecting any more real estate taxes, with the local tax offices scheduled to take over. It has been estimated that collection of these taxes was responsible for the explosion of outstanding debts worth 1.5 billion euros towards the company.
