The Ceremonial Hall at the Athens Appeal Court will host the Golden Dawn trial, it was announced on Tuesday by the Ministry of Justice. The decision came after the repeated requests from the prosecution, human rights groups, MPs and the municipal authorities of Korydallos, where the trial had been carried out so far.

The municipal authorities of Korydallos had previously complained about the decision to hold the trial at the Korydallos prison facility, as there are many schools in the area and there is a high possibility of violent outbursts. Early on in the trial there were reports of Golden Dawn supporters assaulting witnesses on their way to trial.

It appears that the decision to finally move the trial of the neo-Nazi party came after the President of Parliament Nikos Voutsis and Minister of Justice Nikos Paraskevopoulos met with Magda Fyssa, the mother of murdered antifascist activist and rapper Pavlos Fyssas. Mrs. Fyssa had called for the hearing process to be pushed forward.
