The former president of the Henry Dunant hospital Andreas Martinis and his wife Georgia Martini, who were both arrested on Wednesday, will face the examiner on Friday and address the charges of bribery and money laundering.
According to the charges brought against the couple, they received a 3.2 million Deutschmark bribe from German company Hospitalia International, for purchasing hospital equipment for the Henry Dunant. Some of these funds appear to have been used for the purchase of property next to the hospital.
The couple has denied the charges and claim that they never received the aforementioned bribe. Should the couple be unable to convince the examiner with their explanations they may be detained to prevent them from obscuring the case or even escaping abroad.
