The rapid increase in the number of fully vaccinated intubated patients in ICUs is due to the fact that EODY registers individuals who have had only two vax jabs, and not the now necessary third booster shot, as “fully vaccinated”
Greece today passed the 27,000 mark in COVID-19 deaths (27,029), and 95.2 percent of those who died had an underlying medical condition and/or were age 70 or older.
In the last 24 hours, 346 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospital (a 6.99 percentage point decline). for last seven days, the average daily number of admissions was 328.
The death rate of COVID patients intubated in ICUs is approximately 70 percent, as since the beginning of the pandemic about 15,000 COVID patients treated 4,373 have exited.
With the newly announced deaths, 26,473 people have died of COVID-19 in Greece since the beginning of the pandemic, 95 percent with an underlying medical condition and/or age 70 or over. A total of 2.6mn infections have been officially recorded.
The health ministry today cancelled its weekly, nationally televised COVID-19 briefing for the second week in a row, even as the National Public Health Organisation announced 21,863 newly infections and a 36.78 percent rise in hospital admissions.
During the pandemic, 4,289 COVID-19 patients have been released from ICUs of about 14,000 treated in one, a death rate of approximately 60 percent. EODY does not separately report the number of deaths of patients intubated outside of ICUs.
