A Greek government official has disputed rumors that Greece has requested financial aid from Russia, on occasion of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras official visit to Moscow.

The official, who spoke to Reuters, argued that the Greek government wishes to resolve its debt and financial problems “within the Eurozone”. He further noted that “Greece knows what to do within the EU framework but every country also has the sovereign right to look after and improve its bilateral relations”.

Additionally, Reuters notes that the official was confident that the Euro Working Group would pave the way for a positive outcome in the negotiations that are set to take place at the next Eurogroup session.
