ELSTAT: Rate of unemployment 26.5% in February 2014

According to the latest data published by Greeks statistics authority ELSTAT, the rate of unemployment in February was 26.5%, from 26.6% in January. The rate of unemployment in February 2013 was 26.7%

The data also shows that in February 2014 a total of 3,609,445 people were employed, while 1,300,165 were unemployed and 3,408,565 were not seeking employment (pensioners, students etc).

In absolute number there were 8,964 fewer employed compared to February 2013 (0.2% reduction) and 4,054 fewer employed compared to January 2014 (0.1% reduction). The number of unemployed also dropped by 14,996 (1.1%) since February 2013 and 7,987 (0.6) since January 2014.

Regarding those who are no employed and are not seeking employment, ELSTAT saw an increase in their ranks by 25,251 (0.7%) since February 2013 and 12,045 (0.4%) since January 2014.
