The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT published data which indicates that the turnover from retail trade in February dropped by 2.2% on an annual basis, while the overall sales increased by 0.6%.

Furthermore, ELSTAT’s divs show that the Turnover Index in February marginally increased by 0.1% compared to January 2014.

The 2.2% reduction has primarily been attributed to the price hikes in books and paper (3.7%), furniture, electrical and home goods (0.2%), large food stores (-0.1%), fuel (-2.9%) and pharmaceuticals and cosmetics (-6.2%).

The overall sales in retails during February 2014 increased by 0.6% compared to the index in February 2013 and by 4% compared to the index in January 2014.
