The
re-elected Mayor of Thessaloniki Yannis Boutaris announced that “today Thessaloniki elected a mayor, neither the
parties nor some interest groups”.
Mr.
Boutaris vowed to carry on “doing everything needed so that Thessaloniki becomes the city of our dreams” and
added that he would step up his efforts so that “Thessaloniki stops being the capital of
unemployment”.
Finally,
the newly reelected mayor thanked his family, associates and opponent in the
race, Stavros Kalafatis, who had already congratulated Mr. Boutaris on his
victory.
Meanwhile, New
Democracy’s candidate for the District of Central Macedonia and former
basketball coach Yannis Ioannidis admitted his defeat to Apostolos Tzitzikostas
and wished him good luck.
