The Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias and Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond are scheduled to meet on Thursday in Athens. A press conference will follow their meeting on Thursday.

The Cypriot dispute, tackling terrorism, the Syrian conflict and the refugee crisis are expected to be at the top of the agenda, with the two ministers also expected to discuss the United Kingdom’s relationship with the European Union.

As far as the Cypriot dispute goes, during an visit to Cyprus in November, the British official commented that the UK is willing to examine any proposal, provided both sides agree. The UK is one of the five guarantors in Cyprus and has so far adopted a neutral stance regarding the abolition of guarantees that Greece and Cyprus claim.
