The Minister of Administrative Reform Kyriakos Mitsotakis has approved the reappointment of 2,670 former Municipal Police officers who had been suspended. The reappointments of the suspended municipal employees will be finalized over the next 30 days.

Of the 2,670 former municipal officers, 1,542 will be appointed to the Police, 575 will be stationed at correctional facilities, 141 will be transferred to the General Secretariat of Public Revenue, 282 will be employed by the Immigration Service and 30 will be tasked will combating illicit trade.

Mr. Mitsotakis noted that the reappointments will significantly benefit the police, immigration services, correctional facilities and tax collection agencies, while refuting claims that the former municipal officers would face dismissal.
