According to the Deputy Minister of Finances Christos Staikouras there are thousands of pension applications that have yet to be processed by relevant services.
Mr. Staikouras explained that by the 31st of March 2014 there were 12,315 applications from public sector employees and 602 applications from Armed Forces and law enforcement.
Based on data from February 2014, 15,575 public sector employees are to collect an advance payment of their pension, which must be on average 65% of the pension they are going to receive. This does not apply to members of the military and law enforcement.
