An unnamed high-ranking officer at the Ministry of Finances has hinted that the expansion of the criteria for the social dividend benefit will be implemented by the 30th of June. The new, revised criteria will be set by the Deputy Minister of Finances Christos Staikouras and representatives from PASOK.

According to the unnamed officer, the Ministry intends to distribute a sum of 525 million euros by the end of June and as such, will adapt the criteria for the benefit accordingly. The latest rumors suggest that the income cap for eligibility will be increased by 500 to 1,000 euros.

Meanwhile, with talks with the troika about debt relief scheduled to begin in September, the government wants to achieve its fiscal goals, so that it can make its case stronger.

Discussions regarding the primary surplus expectations for the next two years have not yet begun, however the coalition government is geared towards reducing expectations after 2015, so that it can limit austerity.
