The President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos has arranged an official visit to the island of Samos for Wednesday, on occasion of the celebrations for the Transfiguration of Christ and the 191st anniversary of the naval battle of Samos.
On Wednesday afternoon the President will visit the local archeological museum and in the evening he will attend a reenactment of the naval battle in the island’s port.
On Thursday morning the President will attend the religious ceremony at the island’s Transfiguration of Christ church, before heading to the mayor’s office, where he will be declared an honorary citizen of Samos. Mr. Pavlopoulos will return to Athens at noon on Thursday.
