The European Commissioner for Financial Affairs Pierre Moscovici did not rule out the possibility of a third rescue package for Greece, in a Friday morning interview on German radio.
Mr. Moscovici was asked to comment on recent media reports which suggest that the European Union is preparing for a new, 30-billion-euro bailout program for Greece. The Commissioner responded that “we shall wait and see what happens”.
The Commissioner clarified that Greek government must secure funding for the new reforms that it intends to introduce and that Greece must uphold its commitments to its European partners and the IMF.
When asked about the possibility of a debt restructure Mr. Moscovici argued that “it is not the time” and repeated his estimation that if one country were to leave the Eurozone, then the question of “who is next” would be posed.
