The Minister of Administrative Reform Kyriakos Mitsotakis has issued a letter to the president of the Central Union of Municipalities (KEDE) Konstantinos Askounis where he points out that the current public sector staff reviews are unrelated to suspensions, dismissals and wage cuts.

In his letter Mr. Mitsotakis “categorically” stresses that the reviews are unrelated to the government’s suspension and mobility plans, while pointing out the relevant legislation. Mr. Mitsotakis also noted that any insinuation otherwise is “misinformation”.

The Minister further argues that the staff reviews are intended to improve efficiency in the public sector, by giving employees the necessary incentive to improve the quality of their works and services provided.

Finally, Mr. Mitsotakis concludes by requesting that KEDE carries out the necessary staff reviews and to submit any proposals for the new staff review process that will come into effect in 2015.
