The Minister of Shipping and the Aegean Miltiadis Varvitsiotis spoke to Vima 99.5 FM regarding the Coast Guard’s recent operations which resulted in the recovery of about two tons of heroin, which is the biggest bust in Europe and one of the biggest worldwide.

Mr. Varvitsiotis estimated that the heroin which was located in abandoned warehouses in Koropi must have been the entire shipment which had been transported to Greece via the Noor One. The Minister also noted that the investigations will continue in order to identify and locate the rest of the people implicated in the drug cartel.

As such, the authorities are focusing their investigations on the Noor One, which transported the estimated two tons of heroin from southwestern Asia. Aside from the illicit drugs, the ship was found to contain 18 tons of fuel that was unaccounted for.
