The Finance Ministry cleaners who have contested their suspension and dismissal have staged a demonstration outside New Democracy’s central offices on Syngrou Avenue, demanding a meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

Aside from banners and chanting, the cleaners have symbolically tied nooses around their necks, to illustrate the dire situation which has been forced upon them.

A representative of the cleaners, Mrs. Litsa Alexaki, told journalist that «the Prime Minister must take a stand on what is going on. We are being beaten up. Do they want the conflict to continue? If so, they should be aware that we are like the Lernaean Hydra; for every two of us they hospitalize, four more will hit the streets«.

The cleaners, who are expecting a final court decision regarding their case in September, have vowed to continue their struggle until they are vindicated.
