The Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has traveled to Portugal, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech at a European People’s Party event regarding employment and growth strategies over the next five years.

At the event, Mr. Samaras will stress how the EU must develop policies to ensure that it leaves the crisis behind once and for all, by supporting growth and employment, particularly for the younger generations.

The president of the European Union Herman Van Rompuy, along with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and the Finnish Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen will also attend the event.

Mr. Samaras has also arranged a series of meetings with European leaders during his stay in Portugal. At 1pm he will meet EPP leader Joseph Daul, EPP Vice Chairman Manfred Weber and the German Minister of Finances Wolfgang Schäuble.

In the afternoon the PM will meet his Portuguese counterpart Pedro Passos Coelho, accompanied by Mr. Daul and the European Commission’s Vice President Viviane Reding. The Portuguese Prime Minister will host a dinner in the evening.
