The ManpowerGroup has published a study on workforce quality worldwide and has documented the difficulty of businesses to recruit staff members with the necessary experience and skill set. The study also illustrates the effects of the “brain drain” in the domestic job market.

According to the study, 42% of Greek employers are having trouble finding staff members with the appropriate skill set and experience, 4 points more compared t last year and 6 points above the global mean average.

The man problem appears to be the lack of experience (42%), technical or “hard” skills (29%), professional “soft” skills (19%) and available candidates (18%). The most difficult positions to fill in Greece appear to be those of professional sellers, followed by senior managers and technicians.

Two out of three Greek employers estimate that ultimately they will not fill the positions due to lack of appropriate talent. This in turn is estimated to have a medium to significant impact on their businesses’ ability to respond to client needs.

About 37,000 employers from 42 countries participated in the global survey, including 750 Greek employers.
