A 60-year-old man plunged to his death at about 11am on Wednesday by throwing himself on the tracks at the Omonia electric railway station, as a train was arriving.
According to a report from the urban rail transport company STASY, the man was standing on the platform for trains headed towards Piraeus, when he jumped in front of the incoming train.
Emergency services and the Fire Brigade rushed to the station. The services on Line 1 going through Omonia Station have temporarily been suspended.
