The Ministry of Finances revealed today that during April the general government’s outstanding debts increased to 5.296 billion euros, from 5.2 billion euros in March, of which 531 million euros are outstanding tax returns.

Additionally, the insurance fund debts increased to 3.03 billion euros in April from 2.925 billion in March. The debts of EOPPY alone increased to 2.01 billion euros from 1.88 billion euros in March. Hospital debts however decreased to 831 million from 885 million euros in March.

Furthermore, the Ministry revealed that the debts of local government dropped from 459 million euros to 428 million euros, while the debts of Ministries and decentralized administrations increased from 242 million to 262 million euros in April. The outstanding debts of legal entities also dropped to 206 million from 208 million euros in March.
