According to the latest divs published by Greek statistics authority ELSTAT, the rate of unemployment was reduced to 26.8% in March from 26.9% in February and 27.2% a year ago.

The data indicates that the total number of those employed in March was 3,482,345, while those out of a job amounted to 1,274,843 and those who are not seeking a job (such as students and pensioners) were estimated to be 3,393,042.

In March 2014 there were 9,972 (0.3%) fewer jobs compared to the previous year, but 11,857 (0.3%) more jobs compared to February 2014. Additionally, there were 29,410 (2.3%) fewer unemployed compared to March 2013 and just 1,466 (0.1%) fewer compared to February 2014.

Regarding those who are not seeking employment, ELSTAT’s data shows that there were 7,022 (0.2%) fewer since March 2013 and 14,859 (0.4%) fewer since February 2014.
