The Coast Guard reported that it successfully rescued 30 refugees off the north coast of Farmakonisi on Monday morning.
According to preliminary reports, the refugess were about 1 nautical mile off the coast of Farmakonisi when they were located by a Coast Guard vessel. The refugees allegedly tore their inflatable boat in order to force a rescue operation.
Τhe rescued refuges, 27 men and 3 women, all appear to be in good health and are being transferred to Leros.
