The current president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz will be in Athens on Saturday in order to attend and give a speech at the Olive Tree’s conference, where the recently-formed political faction will present its logo and main principles.
The first day of the two-day conference will be dedicated towards the political faction’s perspective. Speakers are also expected to repeat their invitation of cooperation to DIMAR, for the upcoming European elections. On the second day of the conference, the speakers will focus on the importance of the upcoming European elections in May.
The greatest challenge of the conference will be to decide and agree upon the 42 candidates who will represent the Olive Tree in the upcoming European elections. The conference is expected to attract about 1,600 members of PASOK, the Initiative of 58, the Agreement for New Greece and other, smaller parties and factions supporting the effort.
