The Greek President of Democracy Karolos Papoulias has visited Tirana, where he is scheduled to meet with his Albanian counterpart Bujar Nishani. After the meeting, the two politicians will hold a press conference.

Supporters of the nationalist Party for Justice, Integration and Unity (PDIU) party are holding a rally, requesting from the “honorable Greek president” to contribute towards solving the Cham issue. The PDIU originally wanted to hold the rally outside the presidential halls, but were moved away by the police.

In the afternoon Mr. Papoulias will meet with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of Albanian Parliament Ilir Meta. The Greek President will also participate in a Greek-Albanian forum on financial and energy matters.

On Tuesday, the President will meet the Mayor of Tirana Lulzim Basha, before heading via helicopter to the graveyard in Këlcyrë, where he will pay his respects to the Greek soldiers who fell in the Greco-Italian conflict during the Second World War in 1940. Mr. Papoulias will also visit Gjirokastra and other areas where Greek minorities live.
