Anna Kourakaki is scheduled to arrive in Athens shortly after 1pm on Thursday, with two Olympic medals in her luggage, one gold and one bronze.

According to reports the flight of the Greek athlete was delayed for an hour and a half due to her fire arms being inspected.

The gold medalist will be welcomed at the airport in Athens by the Minister of Interior Panagiotis Kouroumplis. She will then continue her journey to Thessaloniki and from there to her native city of Drama.

The father of the Olympic gold medalist, Tasos Korakakis, posted a picture wiht his jubilant daughter before leaving Rio for Athens.
