The warehouses of the Loufakis Industrial and Commercial Chemical Company in the Roumania, near Inofita, Viotia were shut down on Thursday, after it was found that the company was storing hazardous waste.

After the company warehouses were inspected, the company’s temporary manager was arrested. It appears that the Loufakis company was storing the hazardous waste for another company involved in waste management, despite not having the necessary license from the Development Department of the Regional authorities of Viotia.

The Regional Governor of Central Greece Kostas Bakoyannis commented that the inspections will in order to ensure the environmental safety and public health of the local community and the Asopos River.
