The Porsche Cayenne driven by newspaper publisher Panagiotis Mavrikos may not have tampered with, argue forensic experts, suggesting instead that the fire was a result of mechanical failure.

Although the police have not officially claimed that there was foul play in the case of Mavrikos, they have been closely examining the burned down vehicle and reviewing CCTV footage in an effort to determine what caused the fire.

Sources indicate that the vehicle had been serviced a few months ago and the fire seems to have been caused by a leak of fuel and oil. As such, the fire may have been the result of a fault, with police officials noting that they will soon have answers.

In the CCTV footage obtained by the Mavrikos family, the Porsche Cayenne appears to have crashed into the cement barrier five or six times in the space of about 360 meters, before coming to a stop. As the jeep crashed, it appears that various pieces came off the vehicle.
