The Ministry of Labor is hosting a meeting with the employees of Softex and the company’s management, over the latter’s decision to abruptly shut down its factory.
Last week the parent company of Softex, the Italian-based Bolton Group, announced the shutting down of its factory in Greece, claiming that its operation was unsustainable after the fire that broke out in its factory in Votanikos in early July.
The employees gathered outside the Labor Ministry early on Monday morning, demanding that actions be taken to prevent the factory from closing. The Ministry of Labor has issued a statement noting that it will do all it can so that the 200 jobs are not close.
