The presidents of the bar associations have arranged to convene on Thursday in order to discuss their ongoing strike actions, following their three-day abstention that began on Tuesday. Reports suggest that the main proposal will be to carry on with the abstention from their duties.
As such, the country’s law firms, legal societies and bar associations have remained closed since Tuesday, while a demonstration is being carried out in the city center of Athens, with the participation of various scientific bodies. About 10,000 demonstrators are participating and headed towards the Ministry of Labor. The city center has been shut down, with the demonstrations aiming to protest outside Parliament.
Earlier, Athens Bar Association member and president of lawyer fund Dimitris Vervesos was critical of the pension system reform proposal and told the Athens-Macedonia News Agency that the government’s legislative initiative on new scientists is putting their livelihood at risk.
