The recent Ebola virus outbreak in western parts of Africa has raised a world-wide alarm, with Greek authorities currently on alert after a suspected case was reported.
A man traveling to Greece from Libya appeared to have symptoms of the lethal virus and was rushed to the Sotiria hospital. After a series of tests it transpired that the man suffered from malaria.
In the past few days the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) has also received reports of possible Ebola virus cases; another traveling from Nigeria was recently hospitalized at the Laiko, where he was diagnosed with malaria.
In response to these cases, the Ministry of Health has arranged a meeting with the Ministries of Public Order and National Defense in order to discuss a response to a possible Ebola virus outbreak.
