The government spokesperson Olga Gerovasili defended the ongoing tender for television broadcasting licenses and responded to opposition claims regarding the process.

According to Mrs. Gerovasili, the process followed in the auction guarantees complete transparency and objectivity. She also stressed that the tender aims to restore lawfulness in the television landscape.

Asked when she estimates the auction will conclude, the government spokesperson responded that the rules have been set up as such so that nobody outside of the General Secretariat has any such information.

Regarding the 90-day grace period for television channels that will not receive a license for nationwide broadcast, Mrs. Gerovasili underlined that the digital network operator Digea may only broadcast channels with a license.

Finally, the government spokesperson revealed that the talks for regional and thematic television channels have not yet begun, thus dismissing all rumors circulating.
