As time goes on, the situation in Greece becomes increasingly complicated. The external front is absolutely dire and the interior is at a boiling point.
The developments at the north of our borders are absolutely problematic and the pressure in the Aegean is mounting. As it would seem, the veto of Mr. Tsipras lasted two days.
With the neighboring countries refusing to accept new refugees, the borders have in practice been closed.
At the same time Turkey is not keeping its part of the bargain and is obviously “pushing” as many refugees as it can to the Greek islands.
Nothing can guarantee the flow of refugees until the 6th of March, when the mini-summit will take place to evaluate the situation and make some final decisions.
On the contrary, it seems that we are faced with the prospect of Greece being isolated from the rest of Europe.
Our northern borders will turn into a sort of “sanitary zone”.
It is almost certain that hundreds of thousands of migrants and refugees will be trapped in Greece.
It is unfortunate that Greece is divided in the face of the refugee crisis. The situation in the interior remains tense. The talks with the farmers did not have a happy ending, the first review is being delayed and the government seems unable to decide what path it will take.
It is constantly delaying and postponing any solution.
The prolongation of the uncertainty is clearly putting Greece in a weaker bargaining position.
It is no time for any further delays. Despite the unfortunate past experiences, the government is insisting upon the same catastrophic practice.
It is time the Prime Minister and his government began assuming the cost and responsibilities.
Any delays now have a huge cost of the country and the people.
This time there are no excuses, nor will any crying about not knowing or pointing the blame will do.
The responsibility of Mr. Tsipras and his people is full and undeniable!
