It has been months since the new bailout agreement was signed and the infamous review is being postponed from week to week, at a huge cost for the economy. Although Mr. Tsipras and his ministers underlined the urgency, that we will be “in trouble” as Mr. Tsakalotos commented, if we miss the opportunity, the situation grows worse rather than better.
The tragic consequences of last year’s first negotiation are well-known now, even by those who didn’t want to understand. The government is stalling once again, because it does not want to decide what it wants, with one eye on the social reactions and the other on inter-party balances. Greece is missing one opportunity after the other, the economy is faltering, the people are losing what trust and hope they have left.
On Monday the President of the European Central Bank Mr. Draghi announced that an even more ambitious quantitative easing program and monetary policy will begin. After last year’s chaos, Greece has lost the opportunity for Greek banks to get a decisive liquidity injection. It seems that we will miss this second opportunity, which our economy so desperately needs, because we have not yet completed the review.
What are you waiting for Mr. Tsipras to close the open issues with the troika? Do you not realize that the cost of a decision will be far smaller than the benefits of an agreement? It is time you realized that leaders are not judged by easy promises, but from the tough and necessary decisions. Realize that the more you delays, the greater the consequences for you and the country…
