While the 3-0 score does not leave much room for excuses, the Greek side wronged itself an conceded three “cheap” goals and blew the opportunity to equalize the game and claim something more.

In the first half the teams were rather balanced, with Columbia scoring a goal early on with Pablo Armero at the 5th minute of the game. Greece tried to come back in the second half of the game, but Teófilo Gutiérrez quickly clipped Greece’s wings with a goal in the 58th minute.

Fanis Gekas tried to get Greece back in to the game, but unfortunately he aimed for the crossbars in the 63rd minute. With Greece unable to strike back, James Rodríguez turned the victory into a triumph for Columbia by scoring a goal in the dying minutes of the game.

Greece will face Japan next, on Thursday the 19th of June and Ivory Coast on Tuesday the 24th of June.
