According to an article in the Greek edition of Deutsche Well, German conservatives and leftists are against the prospect of creditors relaxing their attitude towards, despite achieving the primary surplus. This warning came as Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker told the Stuttgarter Zeitung that he has not ruled out the possibility of a further debt haircut.

This contrary of Peter Ramseur’s belief that the Greece’s recent fiscal achievements do not warrant or justify a third rescue package, as has been rumored in the past. Mr. Ramsauer told Bild that a potential interest rate reduction would be like saying “carry on being corrupt, messy and lazy with German money”.

Die Linke’s Gesine Letzsch commented that her party is against further help being made available “if that money ends up in the banks and millionaires, rather those who need it”. The negative predisposition towards further financial assistance being made available to Greece also prompted the head of the German Federal Parliament’s European Affairs Committee Gunther Krichbaum to comment that “the troika is embellishing the Greek tragedy. In reality the debt is growing and the Greek budget is kept alive thanks to German money. Greece will never be able to pack off its debts”.
