The Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiadis has complained to Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras about Greek defense industry ELVO delaying the delivery of military vehicles for the Cypriot National Guard.
According to Cypriot media, the troubled defense company has failed to deliver 362 vehicles worth 37.4 million euros within the agreed upon delivery dates and will now be forced to pay out penalties. A few days ago the Cypriot Democracy’s legal services decided to seize the 7 million euro guarantee and impose an additional charge for breaching the deal.
With the troika demanding that ELVO shut down immediately, the failure to deliver the vehicles has caused serious concern in Cyprus. The likeliest scenario, according to Cypriot media is for the Greek government to made a political deal with their Cypriot counterparts.
