The Athens Stock Exchange suffered major losses on Tuesday, with the general price index shrinking by 3.15% and standing at 551.64 points at closing.

The banking sector suffered in particular and closed with losses of 8.84%. Of the four systemic banks, the share of Piraeus Bank retreated by 12.33%, Eurobank by 11.16%, the National Bank of Greece by 10.05% and Alpha Bank by 6.29%.

Transactions were valued at 44.67 million euros, while the yield of the ten-year bond closed at 8.04%.
