A 49-year-old man was arrested in Chania for the murder of his 47-year-old wife, which he attempted to present as a suicide.
The body of the 47-yar-old woman was found in her home in the village of Kamara Kolympariou, with authorities attributing the death to a gunshot wound. The 49-year-old man reportedly told a relative that his wife committed suicide.
Upon closer investigation though, the police was able to highlight inconsistencies in the man’s statement and determined that he was involved in her death. In the investigation that followed, the police seized four pistols with five ammunition clips, two hunting rifles, 266 rounds of ammunition of various types and caliber, pepper spray and knives.
