The Minister of Environment and Energy Panos Skourletis has approved a license for Hellenic Gold to install new electromechanical equipment and modify its facilities at Olympiada and Kassandra.

Hellenic Gold’s project has a budget of 36.5 million euros. The license, which includes a series of terms and restrictions, will expire after a year. An extension may be granted at the request of the firm.

Among others, the installations must strictly comply with what is provided in the relevant logistics studies and certified plans. Health and safety is highlighted in the license terms.

The mining company will also have to adhere to the environmental protection legislation, otherwise it may risk suspension. The Ministry also reserves the right to introduce additional terms and measures in order to safeguard the environment and health of employees.
