The farmers have taken the decision to withdraw from the road blocks they set up on the national highways in late January, following the recent meetings with the government and Prime Minister.
The situation began to normalize on Saturday, with the farmers at Tempi Valley leaving the area, but warning that they will return, should the coalition government not keep its promises.
Many of the farmers leaving the blocks expressed their disappointment at the outcome of the meetings with the government, underlining that their withdrawal does not constitute a defeat.
Earlier, on Friday, the customs office at Promachonas reopened, with the rest of the occupied customs offices on Greece’s northern borders expected to reopen soon after. The occupation on the border with Bulgaria caused many problems and tension, as thousands of trucks were stationed on either side, having an impact on trade.
