The refugee situation in Greece has grown worse ever since FYROM (and Serbia before it) decided to close their borders to Afghan refugees and limit the number of refugees who go through.

Hundreds of refugees who were headed for the border at Idomeni are left stranded at Tempi and other areas on the national highways, while more refugees arrive from the islands. Thousands are already on the border with FYROM and waiting to cross over.

The hotspot at Diavata has so far received about 12 buses with refugees, with authorities expecting about 40 buses by the end of the day. Police is on high alert, following reactions from local residents objecting to the hotspot.

Local residents held a meeting on Tuesday and decided to request the creation of a new police station in the area. They also called for an emergency municipal council meeting, to determine who decided to convert the former military installation into a hotspot. They also decided to not carry out any protest actions due to the major police presence.
