The statement released by SYRIZA’s political secretariat, where it attempts to absolve the government of the responsibility over the impasse in negotiations and pass it on the media and creditors, is a monumental distortion of reality.
By observing the usual propaganda tactic, SYRIZA’s leadership vilifies whom ever suits the party, assuming the people are fooling and unaware of what is going on.
The creditors, according to our propagandists, with the support of a section of domestic and foreign media, are attempting to blackmail the government and deconstruct the difficult compromise of 20 February. If we are not mistaken, it is not the media negotiating; they are however documenting – as is their obligation – the constant delays, changes of government tactics and everything absurd and contradictory spouted by SYRIZA’s ministers and party officers.
The three lost months if negotiations that lead to today’s impasse, the asphyxiation of the economy and the bleeding dry of every available resource were a consequence of exactly this contradictory government tactic and the lack of any essential preparations in managing the situation. SYRIZA’s leadership and the Prime Minister must finally decide what they are after, what they claim, what alliances they will form, what prospects they have and set aside the grandiose warnings and rigid “red lines”.
If they are seeking out responsibilities for the dramatic situation that country has been to, they should examine those who were called to govern the country. Seeking out scapegoats with non papers and propaganda statements will not help them. Other tried in the past and realized that passing on the buck and lies have an expiration date.
