Greek and Albanian representatives met in Brussels on Monday to confirm an agreement between the two neighboring countries regarding toponyms, paving the way for resolving further bilateral matters. The agreement will come into effect by the1st of January 2015.

Discussions regarding the sensitive matter were held between the Foreign Affairs Ministers Evangelos Venizelos and Ditmir Bushati at the sidelines of the ministerial EU-West Balkans meeting.

According to the joint declaration that was published, the two countries agreed to refer to the standards set out by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). During the transitional period, movement between the two countries will be allowed based on the moratorium currently in effect.
