The Prime Minister’s confession in a recent television interview, that he does not know when the troika will return to Athens, to continue with the bailout review, reveals where the country is headed. When one after the other, the ministers involved in the negotiations – on Tuesday it was Mr. Stathakis’ turn – state that we do not have time to waste, all information indicates that there is a great between the two sides.

The secret dinners between the troika and IMF come and go, however the problems remains since the Fund does not accept the data on the fiscal gap and recession and demands more measures. However, the lack of a mutual code of communication between the ministers and troika is not the greatest problem. Inadequate preparation and lack of data have so far created insurmountable problems in the negotiation, so consequently, all issues remain unresolved.

Despite the government trying to close this front without a plan or organization, it deludes itself that it can link the review to the refugee crisis. This as already been rejected even by Mr. Tsipras’ closest allies, such as Mrs. Merkel.

Once again, there is the danger with Mr. Tsipras’ government that we will have similar phenomena, like last year, with the usual catastrophic results. With the refugee front open and the possibility of tens of thousands of refugees being trapped, rather than try to at least close the review to end the uncertainty the dominates the economy, the government is carrying out a witch hunt to gag those who point out their shortcomings and offer criticism.
