Five of the six employees who were injured in a fire that broke out at the refinery in Aspropyrgos on Friday morning remain in a critical, yet stable condition.
Four are being hospitalized at the Thriasio hospital, three of whom are in the intensive care unit, while the fourth one has lighter injuries. The other two, who both suffered serious burns, are kept at the Attiko hospital’s ICU and G. Gennimatas hospital’s burn unit.
Employees at ELPE’s refineries have gone on strike, demanding, among others, that the company’s management covers the hospital bills of their colleagues, takes appropriate health and security measures and provide humane working conditions.
