The chief of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) Klaus Regling spoke of the deep ties between Greece and Europe, in an interview he gave to the Politique Internationale quarterly magazine.

Mr. Regling further noted that the Greek case is demonstrable proof that while fiscal adjustment can block growth in the short term, in the long term it will support growth.

The ESM chief further underlined that after five hard years, over 70% of the Greek population is in favor of remaining with the euro, reflecting the strong commitment to Europe.
