A day after the German Minister of Finances Wolfgang Schäuble openly spoke of the possibility of a third aid package to Greece, European Commissioner Olli Rehn explained that there were “other options”.
Mr. Rehn was interviewed by Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat and commented that “the debt sustainability can be improved for instance by extending the loan periods”.
Paramount to any such decision though is the outcome of the troika evaluation in September, underlining the importance of Greece implementing the agreed upon economic reforms, in order to begin generating surpluses in public finances.
