Vangelis Theodoropoulos has been appointed as the new art director of the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, following the resignation of Jan Fabre.
The Ministry of Culture recognized that the work of the Festival’s art director is difficult and explained that Mr. Theodoropoulos will work closely with Greek artists for this year’s festival, despite the difficult circumstances.
The newly appointed art director graduated from the Drama School of the Athens Conservatory and has worked as an actor since 1992. In 1997 Mr. Theodoropoulos focused on directing and established the Neos Kosmos theater in Athens.
Throughout his career Mr. Theodoropoulos has actively supported younger generations of actors and artists, having helped many establish themselves. The new art director is also experienced in teaching, primarily at the National Theater’s Drama School.
