The Hellenic Sugar Industry (EBZ) factor at Platy has been occupied by sugar beet producers from Pieria, Imathia and Pella since Monday morning.

According to the VP of the sugar beet producer union for Central Macedonia Sakis Pippas, they will not allow any trucks to leave the factory unless they are paid 8 million euros owed for 2015, among others.

Mr. Pippas further told the Athens-Macedonia News Agency that the sugar beet produces demands that they be paid, or at least compensated for this year’s production, which is estimated to be about 45,000 acres.
